Example Four |
In this example we will download and import a file containing fundamental data (ex-dividend dates, P/E ratios and so on) This example will only work in the Pro version. First, we need to add all tickers and companies to your database. The best way is to go direct to the ASX website where they have an importable file: Listed Companies Save that file to your computer, then move to the next step. (If your browser fills with data when you click the 'listed companies' link, try right-clicking it so you can choose 'save as...') Now download the data file from ascii-data.com. Save the file where you can find it again - e.g. "My Documents". Now click Import/Export in FCharts, select the 'Other' tab and click 'Import Company Data' ![]() Using the file selector, navigate to the FIRST data file you saved to your computer (ASXListedCompanies.csv) and double-click it. This will add all listed tickers and titles to your database. Next, repeat the 'Import Company Data' on the SECOND file(stocktable.csv). This will read in the fundamentals data and apply it to the existing tickers. Now, when you display a chart, you can click the 'Edit Co.' button to show financial information about that stock. If you right-click the main chart, click 'Special Overlays' and select 'Ex-Dividend Marker' you will also see a blue vertical line on the chart when a stock has gone ex-dividend. ![]() The program will also warn you about upcoming dividends with a note at the top of the chart. That's it for example four. Click here for the next example. |
