Why are you seeing the message "339 Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"?



This happens because FCharts 1.x is a Windows 98-era application, and later versions of Windows don't install the Microsoft runtime files needed to make the program work.

The solution is to download and install the app on this link. Once installed, run the SJ Installer*, pick an app like yWriter, FCharts or yBook and click 'Check Runtimes'. If any are missing, you'll be given the option of downloading and installing them. You don't have to download and install the application you selected.

* Under Win7 or later you should run the program as Administrator to ensure you can install the runtimes. (Right-click the installer EXE file and choose 'Run as Administrator')
